Welcome to CPSC 101 for Summer 2024!
As most of you are likely aware, our class is completely remote over the summer. We do not have any set meeting times or lectures as this class is done on a schedule, but largely at your own pace within the timeframes given. I have attached the syllabus for our class as outlined some key points down below.
Textbook and MindTap
Our course is using the Shelly Cashman Series Microsoft 365 & Office 2021 textbook by Cengage. This course requires MindTap as all of our lessons, simulations, quizzes, and exams are in there. Our course key for MindTap can be found on our D2L page or in your Kutztown email.
Schedule
Our schedule in this class is largely done at your own discretion, but I do have due dates on sections. If you get everything that’s required done before the due date, you are most welcome to move along to the next section. There is no final in our course. The schedule for our blocks is below and the assignments for those sections are due by the end of that block. For example, Word 1-5 begins on 6/17, therefore Operating Systems and the Computing Exam are due by 6/16.
If you need any clarification on the schedule, you can refer to MindTap or reach out to me via email.

Grading
Our class is entirely inside of MindTap. As such, grades will be posted within MindTap and then the overall grades at the end of the course will be posted within D2L. We have a combination of lecture assignments, simulations, exams, and quizzes. Our quizzes within MindTap appear as “Module Exam” due to how they are configured, but these are short quizzes. You will have a total of six (6) exams in this class, one for each of the major components we cover and three covering our largest section for Excel. I highly recommend that you filter your dashboard to show “Counts Towards Grades” so that you don’t do unnecessary work for our course.
The breakdown for our class is:
Category | Percentage |
Simulations | 10% |
Quizzes | 15% |
Assignments | 50% |
Exams | 25% |
